Hair Transplant Methods:
FUE vs. FUT
Advantages of FUT method
Larger areas of baldness can be covered in fewer sittings.
The resection rate (the grafts that get cut whilst removing) may be lesser providing superior results.
Who should opt for FUT method?
People who have larger areas of baldness and would like it covered in single sitting.
People who don’t mind cuts, stitches, longer recovery period.
Advantages of FUE method
As this method of hair transplantation does not involve taking an entire strip of scalp from the back of the head like in strip surgery, there are no cuts or stitches.
The recovery time is much quicker with the patient often returning to work the next day itself.
There is no linear scar.
Who should opt for FUE method?
People who want to wear shorter hair styles.
People with active lifestyles like sportsmen, etc.
Women with smaller areas of baldness.
People who prefer less invasive procedures and don’t want cuts, stitches on the scalp.
Those who want faster recovery.
Permanently restore your hair by transplanting new follicles into balding or thinning areas. Healthy follicles are taken from other areas of the body, most often the back or the sides of the head. This can be done by taking a single strip of hair or removing follicles individually depending on the methods your choice with our doctors. The number of grafts needed depends on the patient and the size of the area being treated. Anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 grafts is average for a day of surgery.
What are Hair Transplants ?
To have a hair transplant, the first thing that will be done is the removal of a small area of your scalp from an unnoticeable part of your head where hair is growing normally by FUE or FUT (read below). This is typically done quickly as an outpatient process. Hairtransplants today are far less noticable than previous procedures due to the innovative methods used. Many of our patients say even their barber doesn't notice!
Your individual hairs are then painstakingly attached to the bald part of scalp. The hairs are called grafts or Follicular Unit .Which your doctor will make many minuscule incisions in your scalp where you have experienced hair loss and each graft is meticulously affixed into each tiny opening.
The entire operation can usually be completed in about 10-12 hours. The hairs are positioned on the graft to look as natural as possible. Since everyone’s hair is different, it is difficult to estimate how many grafts will be required. It is also determined by how much area needs to be covered. Generally, most people can do with approximately 500 grafts but some may have need for as many as 3,000.
You can plan to resume your regular schedule in a few days after receiving the hair transplant. Depending on where you live hair transplants can cost as much as $10,000-$14,000, in Bangkok, where labor costs are significantly less and insurance is less expensive, the costs is usually below $4,000, depending on the method and amount of hairs to be transplanted and donor site.
In roughly one month, the grafts will gradually fall out and your own genuine hair will start to grow over the course of several months. This occurs because, in the area of scalp that was originally removed your hair was growing just fine, and when it is relocated to another part of your head, the scalp should continue to produce some hair.
Occasionally, people who undergo hair transplantation can encounter obstacles, such as extra bleeding, redness, or irritation. There may also be issues with the new growth, including scars or infections. However, since the process is done using your own hair, the possibility and incidence of rejection or complications is slight.
It is simply moving or transplanting hair from a place you have it into a place where you do not, so that hair loss is not as obvious or substantial. Within one year of surgery, all of your new hairs will be fully grown and you notice a substantial improvement.
